Pocopson Founders Day, Sept. 28

PocopsonPOCOPSON   The seventh Annual Pocopson Township Founders’ Day is just around the corner. Scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28 in Pocopson Park located at 477 Locust Grove Road, it will run from noon to 4 p.m.

This “family friendly” event will have a special focus this year on Patriotism.  Everyone is invited to display your “patriotic best.”  Kids are encouraged to dress up from head to toe and parade around for the best dressed contest.

According to event chairperson, Colleen McKinney, “this year we have added a number of new activities that will please both parents and kids. The event is an annual affair that is aimed at bringing neighbors together for a casual, relaxed, fun- filled day out.  Residents and friends are encouraged to come out and show pride in their township.”

In addition to many games for kids of all ages, there will be a petting zoo, a much anticipated donut eating contest with some local celebrities, and plenty of excitement for the raffle of some cool items. New to the event is “Bingo Under the Tent” and back by popular demand is a visit of the Radnor Hunt Club.  Music will be provided by Josh Komorowski & Sons of Thunder.  Great food will be available for purchase from the Purple Picnic People and Lenape Pizza. Grab some food and watch The Brandywine Vintage Baseball team.  During the afternoon, a special visit will be made by State Senator Dominic Pileggi. And finally, stop by the Historic Locust Grove School House to hear what is happening with their restoration.

There are more vendors than ever this year! Some local artisan and vendors include Bailey’s Farm, Bruno Bites, the Brandywine Valley Association, Karing Kids, Three Sisters Soaps, Nean Bean Crafts, Sweet Salvation Truffles, Cari Orthodontics, Carolyn Chambers Jewelry, Purple Daisy, Sandy’s Stitches,  Amazing Time Photobooths, McKinney Landscaping, Thomas Mallon Allstate Insurance, Best Dressed Tomboy, 31 Bags, Arbonne and many, many talented others.  Be sure to stop and shop!

A special thanks is extended to some of our top sponsors such as Green Leaf, Unruh Turner Burke and Frees, Vandermark, Lenape Veterinarian and Keystone Mutual. Be sure to check out all of our sponsors on our Facebook page, “Founders Day.”  Without sponsors each year, the event could not be such a success.

Dress in your red, white and blue and join in the celebration.  Pocopson Township is looking forward to seeing everyone, rain or shine, on Sunday, September 28th.
