Just in time for baseball season, the Chester County SPCA wants to remind area residents that the Phils and their fans aren’t the only ones eager to play ball.

The nonprofit agency is offering a weekend special entitled “Big League Ballplayers” to encourage potential pet-owners to go to bat for one of the larger dogs hoping for a permanent home. From Friday through Sunday, any dog weighing 40 pounds or more can be adopted for $40.

The adoption fee includes: spaying/neutering, initial vaccinations, identifying microchip, free exam by one of over 60 participating vets, and unconditional love for life.

Adoption hours are Friday and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. To see which dogs are available and learn how to optimize the adoption process, visit http://www.ccspca.org/events1/big-league-ballplayers/.
