Barney Leonard was appointed to the Pocopson Board of Supervisors to replace Matt Read, who resigned after getting a job out of state. Leonard will serve through 2015, when his seat will be up for election.

POCOPSON — After serving less than six months, Pocopson Township Supervisor, Matt Read tendered his resignation at the recent Board of Supervisors meeting and will be replaced by Barney Leonard, currently active with many township boards.

Reading from an email, Supervisors’ Chair Ricki Stumpo, said Read cited personal reasons, stating that he and his family are moving away from the area.

Leonard, an active member of the Township Planning Commission and Comprehensive Plan Task Force, was appointed to fill the vacancy until the next township election.

Leonard’s appointment will last through 2015, according to Supervisors’ Vice Chair, Georgia Brutscher. If he chooses to seek election, he will have to run for election in the 2015 Primary and then again in the November election.
