From Dr. Seuss to edible plants, entertainment abounds
A demonstration of pot-throwing at Charles Metzger Pottery will be one of the Friday Art Stroll activities in Kennett Square.
Historic Kennett Square celebrates the month of March with its Art Stroll on Friday, March 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. The public is invited to visit a variety of independently-owned shops, galleries, and restaurants and enjoy special exhibits, delicious food, and refreshments throughout the downtown area.
The highlights include:
Mala Galleria is celebrating art inspired by Dr. Seuss with ”One Fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish…” ceramics by Meghan Bergman, Dr. Seuss-inspired hats by Milica Schiavio and new artwork by Judy Goodkind and David Dziemian. In honor of Dr. Seuss’ penchant for hats, the gallery is hosting a contest on Friday. Wear your best or funniest hat, and get photographed; the best hat will win a prize.
Longwood Art Gallery is featuring wine, cheese, music and the giclées of Peter Sculthorpe, including previews of new releases. The show runs through March 29.
Center For Vibrant Living is open this Friday with mixed media by Krystina Benedetti and mosaic art by Jackie Davis, live music by Stefan Wolfe, refreshments, and free 10-minute relaxing and immune-boosting BioMat sessions.
Bayard Taylor Library will be hosting a program on “Edible Ornamental Plants” on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Pandora Young, senior gardener at Longwood Gardens, will discuss some of her favorite edible trees, shrubs, perennials and vines for the home gardener. Join her to sample unusual plants, fruit teas, and seeds and learn different ways to incorporate these garden treats into your next feast.
Flickerwood Wine Cellar will present a Mardi Gras party with live music by Cork Screwed Blues, free beads, masks, and slushies from 7 to 10:30 p.m.
Charles Metzger Pottery will be serving hot cider and snacks and demonstrating throwing pots on the potter’s wheel for First Friday.
The Market at Liberty Place will host Dave Renz performing jazz from 6 to 9 p.m. with happy hour specials.
Cenzia Arts and Gifts is closing the store; stop in and check out their final sale and one last art stroll.
