Friendly felines the focus of ‘Catapalooza’

Chester County SPCA is looking to foster adoptions

It may be the dog days of summer, but the Chester County SPCA is bursting at the seams with cats – a surplus that could benefit the public this weekend.

Lenny and Larry are both hoping to find a forever home during this weekend’s’ “Catapalooza” at the Chester County SPCA.public this weekend.

In an effort to facilitate adoptions, the agency is hosting Catapalooza 2012 on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at its newly renovated facility on Phoenixville Pike in West Goshen Township. The event, billed as “two days of feline fun,” will feature attractive prices for anyone interested in cat or kitten adoptions.

Rich Britton, a spokesman for the nonprofit animal-advocacy agency, said the family-friendly festivities will include feline face-painting and crafting cat toys. “It will be a lot of fun,” he said. “Even if people aren’t considering adoption, they should come and get to know us better.”

Britton said the agency’s cat population typically rises at this time of year. That seasonal trend, coupled with the fact that Chester County is currently sheltering animals for Delaware County, means that prospective cat-owners “will have a great selection.”

The Chester County SPCA has even prepared a video to showcase some of the cats looking for a good home. For more information, visit http://www.ccspca.org/about/whats-happening/catapalooza/.
