Indians one step closer to state championship match with win over Explorers

Unionville advances to PIAA state quarterfinals with win over LaSalle College High School

The Indians will more than likely get another crack a District One foe at states

PHILADELPHIA—The Indians got back on the winning track following a District One runner up finish, as Unionville ventured to the Arthur Ashe Tennis center to take on District 12 champion LaSalle College High School.

Unionville, fueled by outstanding single play again by Mike Furr and Johnny Wu, defeated the Explorers by a tally of 4-1 in the opening round of the Pennsylvania State championship tournament.

The Indians will now travel to the Hershey Racquet Club, where they will face District Seven champion Shady Side High School, who defeated DuBois by a score 5-0, on Friday at 5:00pm.

Exhibiting the strength of the Indians district, the top four seeds from District One all advanced in the opening round.

District One champion Conestoga cruised to a 4-1 win over District Three third seed Dallastown, while (1-3) Council Rock North squeaked out a 3-2 win over District Eleven champ Parkland.

(1-4) Pennsbury High School rallied to claim a 4-1 win over District Three champion Hempfield from the Lancaster area.

Match #2-(7-2) Mount Lebanon vs. (1-3) Council Rock North  3:30pm

Match #3-(7-1) Shady Side vs. (1-2) Unionville   5:00pm

Match #4-(10-1) Cathedral Prep vs. (1-4) Pennsbury  6:30pm
