Girl’s basketball-Unionville head coach Tony Zambino and his talented squad will have an opportunity to erase the memory of a 50-45 loss in the middle of a mid season swoon to Haverford, by traveling to the mainline to take on the Fords Friday night at 7pm.

Unionville travels to Haverford tonight in the firt round of the PIAA District One playoffs

The number eleven seed Haverford (19-5), who comes into the game winning eight of their last nine game with their last loss coming at the hands of Conestoga on February 7th, is led by a senior quartet that the Indians will have to find a way to contain.

Fords senior sniper Jaclyn Gantz has posted 47 three point field goals made, while averaging 15.5 ppg., meanwhile guards Katrina Gieger (7.3 ppg) and Maura O’Connell (7.3 ppg) compliment 5’10” forward Sharee Halstead, who has worked the paint to the tune of 8.9 ppg.

The Indians (15-7) ironically enough can thank Allison Lewis, who they will rely on heavily if they are to advance to face the winner of the #6 Upper Dublin vs #27 Sun Valley match up in next weeks second round of the PIAA Class AAAA District playoffs, for choosing their opponent by hitting the game winning shot against Kennett the last time the ladies hit the floor, giving Unionville its #22 seeding.

Unionville is riding the momentum of a four game winning streak, and 6-of 7 as they head to Haverford on Friday night at 7 pm.

Seniors Cami Redfern and Janice Hauck will be depended on as well as Lewis to set the tone early as the Indians game suits playing with the lead.
