Phoenixville council votes to bring back PVX Inside Out for 2023

On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Borough Council members unanimously voted to bring back PXV Inside Out in 2023. The Open Air Experience will take place May 26th through October 9th of next year. Council President Jonathan Ewald said, “After the continued success of PXV Inside Out and the street closure program, Borough Council wanted to establish next summer’s dates early to allow businesses, nonprofit partners, and event organizers ample time to prepare and plan to make the 2023 season bigger and better. What started as a necessity has become a summer tradition that is enjoyed by the whole region.”

Each week during the PXV Inside Out season, Bridge Street will close to vehicular traffic between Starr Street and Main Street, and from Main Street to Gay Street at 2:00pm Friday afternoon. The road will re-open each Monday at 7:00am, with the exception of 4th of July and Labor Day weekends, when it will re-open on Tuesday at 7:00am. Following the vote, Borough Manager E. Jean Krack reported, “This evening, Council approved the 2023 PXV Inside Out dates.  This decision was based on numerous surveys over the past few years, continued discussion with downtown businesses, and ongoing dialogue between Borough Staff and Borough Council. The PXV Inside Out initiative provides for a safer pedestrian experience in the downtown, and is a commitment that has blossomed into a regional destination each weekend during those dates.”

In 2022, PXV Inside Out was well-received by the community as a whole, with families and friends gathering to take advantage of the pedestrian-friendly area. Numerous events were held within the closed streets including Blobfest, Phoenixville Art Street Festival, Pride Fest, Rhythm & Brews, Juneteenth Celebration and many more. Friday evenings brought music to the streets with the Summer Music Series, and the Main and Bridge Street Parking Lot hosted First Fridays each month, and weekly exercise classes on Sundays. By voting now to approve dates for 2023, Borough Council hopes to bring even more events for the public to enjoy.

Mayor Peter Urscheler expressed his excitement about the vote, stating “The approval of 2023’s PXV Inside Out season means that we can once again create a safe space for friends and family to gather and be together. We look forward to welcoming folks from near and far as they discover what makes our community so unique and wonderful.”
