D-Town East grad, NY Jet Tyler Kroft gives back to hometown, again hosting youth football camp

New York Jets tight end, Tyler Kroft, will return to his hometown to run the third-annual student football camp.

DOWNINGTOWN — On Saturday, July 24, students will have the opportunity meet current New York Jets tight end, Tyler Kroft, and participate in a day filled with football fun.

As a child growing up in Downingtown, Tyler Kroft reminiscences about how special it is to return to his hometown and discuss the importance of education in the game. “The game of football is an awesome metaphor for life; I am always happy to talk with young players, especially in my community, about the physical commitment to self and team, but also the academic commitment and requirements to succeed.”

As a Downingtown East Cougar, Kroft was the captain of the football team, playing tight end and wide receiver, taking home the Ches Mont Championship three years in a row (2008, 2009, 2010).

Downingtown East Head Coach Michael Matta mentions how humble and down to earth Kroft has remained, stating, “He comes back every year to work with the current players and younger ones in the community, helping them find success as athletes and as people. Our community is incredibly lucky and thankful to have the support of such a talented and generous young man.”

Kroft’s football career is one for the books, being drafted 85th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft starting with the Cincinnati Bengals (2015-2018), then the Buffalo Bills (2019-2020), and now active with the New York Jets.

Kroft will be hosting the third-annual Tyler Kroft Blue & Gold Youth Football Camp on July 24 at Downingtown East High School in Exton. Children from first grade through eighth grade are eligible to participate in the free camp, and all participants will receive a T-shirts for attending.
