West Chester Downtown Foundation Issues $20,000 in grant awards to local non-profits

WEST CHESTER  — On October 17th, 2019 the West Chester Downtown Foundation (WCDF) hosted their 9th annual West Chester Preservation Awards Ceremony at the Chester County Historical Society in downtown West Chester, PA. During this ceremony the Foundation announced its fifth consecutive year of grant awardees.

The West Chester Downtown Foundation created their Community Grant Committee program to help fund some of the amazing charities that call our community home. These organizations are often looking for financial assistance as they seek to honor their missions and help those in need.

“By giving out twenty thousand dollars in grants to thirteen local non-profits, we hope to encourage and engage others in our community to rally to these special organizations that help our most vulnerable and strengthen our community,” notes Matt Holliday, President of the Board of Directors of the West Chester Downtown Foundation.

The Grants Committee evaluates applications based on their ability to meet human needs in our community; the quality of the program to deliver the services; and the match to our organization’s mission statement: to promote community interest in the vitality, culture, and livability of downtown West Chester through education, historic preservation, and collaboration. Applicants must complete and submit an Application for Funding together with supporting documentation. Supporting documents include proof of 501(c)(3) status and latest audited financial report or IRS Form 990.

Award winners announced at the event were the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, the Charles A. Melton Arts & Education Center, the Friends Association for Care and Protection of Children, Bournelyf Special Camp, Act in Faith, the Community Warehouse Project of Chester County, the West Chester Public Library, the West Chester Food Cupboard, the Salvation Army of West Chester, the Read2Dream Foundation, the West Chester Area Senior Center, the YMCA Believe and Achieve Program, and the Maternal and Child Health Consortium.
