Gold Medal finish for 14 UHS crew athletes

Novice Boys and Novice Girls both brought home Gold medals from the Cooper Cup Regatta held in New Jersey this Sunday, April 29. Novice Girls rowed a 4-person boat and finished first ahead of 16 boats with a time of 6.23 for the 1,500 meter race. Novice Boys rowed an 8-man boat and finished first with a time of 4.00:60, a slim 2 seconds ahead of 2nd place. JV Boys came in 3rd in their flight, 7th of 17 boats overall. Varsity Boys came in 5th overall, just 4 seconds shy of medaling.

Next week UHS Crew will be on the Schuylkill River for the Philadelphia Championships, where they will be favored to win the Men’s JV8 race, and will have a new sculling pair, seniors Jay Lehmann and Aiden Wardius.

Unionville High School Crew is a Club sport, supported by volunteers and parents, for 50+ athletes to compete in regional and national regattas. Practices take place at Newport Rowing Club and Unionville High School.  More information can be found at: https://rowurc.org
