EAST MARLBOROUGH — The Unionville-Chadds Ford School District announced Thursday that its administrators have agreed to take a pay freeze for the 2011-2012 school year.
This would be the second straight year that the district’s administrators agreed to hold the line on salaries as the district grapples with a $1.1 million dollar budget deficit, after proposed cuts in state funding. This subject, among others, will likely be a topic during tonight’s Community Conversation, being held at Unionville High School at 7 p.m.
More discussion — and more in the way of proposed program and personnel cuts — should be on the agenda for the next formal Board of Education meeting, on April 25, also at the high school.—MM
The administrators were furloughed for a specific number of days. This is considerably different than a wage freeze. They will not be working in days they had previously worked. A wage freeze would have had them working at the previous year’s salary for the same number of days, Instead they are working less days, this is a furlough.
