Tickets on sale for Kennett Symphony’s SymphonyScape, 2nd annual fundraiser

KENNETT SQUARE – Tickets are on sale for the second annual SymphonyScape event, a Symposium on Gardens and Design, to be held on April 28th, 2011 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Mendenhall Inn, Kennett Pike. Tickets are $85.

This exciting event will feature two outstanding speakers. Drew Becher is the new President of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and comes to Pennsylvania from New York where he was Executive Director of New York Restoration Project, founded by Bette Midler in 1995, and is a respected leader in the City’s greening and beautification initiative. Mr. Becher’s presentation title is: Philadelphia the Greenest City in the Country.

Greg Lawrence grew up in Kennett Square and has had a successful career in Interior Design in Richmond, VA and as the Print Director for Duralee Fabrics, the third largest decorative home fabrics company in the United States. He is presently the Vice President of Creative Affairs for Calico Corners/Calico Home. Mr. Lawrence’s presentation title is: Design Trends for 2011 – and beyond.

The day will have outstanding vendors and educators to assist you with your gardening questions, food and wine, and raffle tables to entice. Participants to date are Waldor Orchids, Willowdale Country Store, The Kitchen Sink, Tastefully Simple, The Organic Mechanics Soil Company, LLC, Garden Accents, Brandywine River Museum and Sara’s Country Chocolates. A selection of music for the day will be provided by the Copeland String Quartet.

The day benefits the Kennett Symphony of Chester County and the adjunct beneficiary, the Kennett Square Beautification Committee.

Begun in 1940 as a community volunteer orchestra for Kennett Square residents, the Kennett Symphony has evolved into Chester County’s only fully professional symphony orchestra. Subscriptions, as well as individual concert tickets, are now available for the 2010-2011 Season.
