Academic All Star – TOTAL packageAvon Grove High’s Tyler Mebane was named Competitor of the Year for the Academic Competition held annually and hosted by the Chester County Intermediate Unit.  Times sources report, “He stood out heads and tails above the rest with his teamwork…he incredibly smart, but he often consulted and included other members of the team; and never tried to make it the “Tyler show,”  In addition to being very academically talented, he was a real team leader and team player.”  Oh, and by the way, Tyler was also recently named a National Merit Scholar…


Remembering…and celebrating…Kip #10ve… (TODAY) Saturday, May 30, 2015 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM, to Concord Municipal Center – 43 Thornton Road, Glen Mills, PA. The day features youth lacrosse clinics, games, flag pole dedication and a celebration of lacrosse, fellowship and the life of Kip Taviano, gifted BYC and Haverford School lacrosse player who died tragically in May 2013.

Girls on the RUN…(THIS MORNING) nearly 3,000 young runners and friends are expected to be rockin’ the streets of West ChesterMay 30th…with a starting point of Henderson High and continuing through the historic borough. Girls on the Run is a national program; its website explains ‘Girls on the Run’ inspires girls to take charge of their lives and define the future on their terms…Girls learn they can. No limits. ‘Sick Flo, Bro!’… Cheers to the twenty ‘U-15’ & ‘U-13’ lacrosse players making Chesco Lax Association’s (CCLA) 2015 All Star team. These top players will be ‘chillLAXin’ and bringing some serious game – June 6 & June 7 as CCLA hosts its third annual PA all-star challenge at West Chester’s Kelly Field. It’s peanut-butter-jelly TIME!….United Way of Chester County invites you to take part in a PB&J food drive (and competition) to benefit the Chester County Food Bank (CCFB) Drop off donations at the CCFB – 650 Pennsylvania Dr. (Eagleview Corporate Center) June 12th from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. Gotta’ get’cha – get’cha head in the game!…The following Chester County high schools made Niche.com’s ‘Best Sports Public High Schools’ top ten (out of 100 rated) for Philadelphia-area public schools: Downingtown West (3rd), Unionville (4th), Coatesville (6th) and Bayard Rustin (7th).

Now, why didn’t WE think of that?!?Unionville High’s Kate Evanko was recently recognized for her participation in the innovative ‘Sensei’ teen entrepreneur product development team. The ‘Sensei’ prototype backup sensing system is designed for wheelchair users. This life changing device can help users avoid embarrassing collisions, pain from hitting objects and incurring damage to property and expensive wheelchairs…

The well NOW runneth…thanks to Patton Middle School: Patton students, teachers and family have received word that their well has been built. After raising more than $7,000; as a result of their efforts funding for a well at Agama Primary School in Uganda, and funding a water filtration/hydration system at a school in the Dominican Republic occurred…

KMS Sighting: Bright green furry thing with moves like ‘Jagger’, amazing belly dance abilities while distributing random BIG kisses …It could only mean one thing: The Phillie Phanatic spent the afternoon at Kennett Middle School’s (KMS) ‘Schools to Watch’ re-designation celebration this week.  The always crazy Phanatic cheered on KMS students, faculty, staff, families and community that are each a part of achieving this prestigious award. He even spent time (to the kids’ delight!) directing traffic and getting students onto their busses.  KMS is only one of four middle schools in the region to receive this honor…

Love the Logo… Congratulations to Coatesville Area Senior High’s Sydney Tushar for winning the top honors in The City of Coatesville’s Centennial Celebration logo contest. Sydney’s creation is now on display…
