The unconventional antics of Pocopson Township’s Brandon “Bam” Margera, a former skateboarder whose “Jackass” stunts on MTV catapulted him to celebrity status, are moving overseas temporarily as the legendary stuntman – who also dabbles in art and music – takes his punk rock band on another global tour.

This time, to the delight of West Chester painter John Hannafin, Margera’s entertainment will include “performance art.” Hannafin said he was invited to accompany the entourage and will provide live art coverage of Margera’s “whirling dervish of punk and rap music, including outrageous stunts by members of the Jackass and CKY crew.”

Hannafin said the adventure would begin next week in Austria, where he expects to paint the crew in front of Mozart’s house. The itinerary also includes multiple venues in England, Scotland, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, he said.

“I’m excited and the possibilities are endless,” Hannafin said in an email. “Look out for ‘European Art Shows’ in New York City and West Chester featuring the artwork we create upon our return.” Hannafin said he would attempt to provide updates on his website when possible: http://www.johnhannafin.com.

Hannafin met Margera a little over a year ago when he attended an art opening the MTV star had at a Philadelphia gallery. Hannafin said he had always been a fan but was particularly motivated to support the event because Margera had purchased one of his paintings. He said the two learned they had much in common and quickly became friends and art partners, leading to several collaborations.

At this particular moment, I can’t think of anything in the world I’d rather do than be on this trip. I gave up on any semblance of sanity long, long ago. Bam’s the best and the one communication I had with John (can’t exactly remember what it was about) left me feeling he’d be a good guy to be around.
Love to Bam & company from South Carolina.
