Bilingual, West Grove resident tapped as chief operating officer

La Comunidad Hispana announced Thursday that it has named  Alisa Jones as its chief operating officer.

Jones, who is bilingual, comes to La Comunidad Hispana from the Delaware Division of Public Health, where she worked as bureau chief and section chief, overseeing health promotion/disease prevention programs in the areas of cancer, diabetes and other chronic illnesses, according to a news release.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from California State University and a master’s in public health from San Diego State University, the release said.  Early on, she was a medical assistant and health educator and spent several years as a consultant to Community Health Centers, including San Ysidro Health Center in San Diego, Calif.

Jones, who lives in West Grove, will begin her new position at the Kennett Square facility on March 11.

“We’re excited to have someone with Alisa’s experience join us in an executive position at LCH,” Margarita Queralt Mirkil, La Comunidad’s president and chief executive officer, said in the  release. “Our organization is expanding and her help will help us as we transition LCH in the coming years. She has a wealth of experience in all aspects of healthcare.”
