Kennett Y starts youth basketball registration

KENNETT SQUARE — The Kennett Area YMCA is accepting registrations for its Youth Basketball League!  The season begins the week of Monday, November 8 and runs through Saturday, January 22.  The league is open for players ranging in age from 4 – 14.  Divisions 1 and 2 (4 and 5 year olds) will participate in a co-ed league, while Divisions 3 through 6 (6 to 14 year olds) will play in separate boys and girls divisions.  The players will be divided into the following divisions by age group: 6 & 7 year olds, 8 & 9 year olds, 10 & 11 year olds, and 12 to 14 year olds.

Practices begin the week of Monday, November 8 for Divisions 3 and up who practice once a week and play one game a week on Saturdays.  Divisions 1 and 2 only meet on Saturdays to practice and scrimmage.  Divisions for players ages 8 and up will compete and travel to other YMCA of the Brandywine Valley branches to increase competition.  Games will begin on Saturday, November 13.  Each player ages 6 and up will need to purchase a black and white reversible jersey at registration, or if they played for the YMCA in the past, they may use their jersey from previous seasons.

Please keep in mind the following dates: Early Registration ends October 10, and Late Registration ($15.00 late fee) runs from October 11 and ends on October 24.  A YMCA Full or Program Membership is required for each participant in our league.  Please make sure to sign up for our leagues within the designated registration periods, and remember to include any days you cannot practice, friend, or coach requests in your registration. Game and practice schedules will be distributed in early November.
