Bushelow, Dupuis elected to BOE posts

Bushelow to continue as board president, Dupuis new vice president

Eileen Bushelow, left, was reelected as president of the Unionville-Chadds Ford Board of Education. Victor Dupuis, right, will be the new vice president.

EAST MARLBOROUGH — The Unionville-Chadds Ford Board of Education’s annual reorganization meeting was quick and to the point: in a four-minute session, the board voted unanimously to reelect Eileen Bushelow of Pocopson as president, while East Marlborough’s Victor Dupuis will serve as vice president, replacing Jeff Leiser, who served in the role during the last year.

After the vote, the board quickly adjourned to go into executive session to discuss a legal matter.

Although the nine-member board continues in 2013 with the same members — the board is expected to have a busy year. At the first meeting of the year, the board is expected to render a decision on the status of the Unionville High School Marching Band and whether or not it will continue to mandate that music students participate in it. Also, the first framework of the 2013-14 budget is expected to be presented and negotiations on a new contract with the district’s teachers is expected to get underway. The teachers’ contract expires on June 30, 2013.

Four seats, those currently held by Region A members Keith Knauss and Jeff Hellrung, and those held by Region B members Holly Manzone and Leiser, are up for election in 2013.
