Family Art Day, July 28

Features interactive activities for kids, families

KENNETT SQUARE  – A variety of participatory art activities are planned for Saturday July 28th, at Anson B. Nixon Park’s Family Art Day.

The free event runs from 10 am to 3 pm, and offers many interactive activities for children.  Creative activities include splatter paint, origami, watercolor, abstract painting, illuminated letters and masking tape trees. Other fun includes face painting, fairy story garden, and musical and dance performances. The Family Art Fest includes performances by West Chester Danceworks, Danza Tenochtli, Girl Scouts, KMC Dance and a drumming performance by Basement Culture.

The Family Art Day is sponsored by Rover Transportation; art stations will be facilitated by Greenable, Creative Center for the Arts, Willowdale Art Academy, Chester County Art Association, the Bayard Taylor Library and students from the Kennett Garage. There will be a drawing for free tickets to the Brandywine Art Museum.

Anson B. Nixon Park is located on North Walnut Street, off State Street in Kennett Square.  The 106-acre park has sand and grass volleyball courts, hiking, walking, and fitness trails, basketball and tennis courts, a Frisbee (disc) golf course, six pavilions with picnic tables, grills, two ponds stocked with fish, a children’s playground, and a performance pavilion.  For further information about the Park, visit The street address is 100 Waterworks Dr., Kennett Square PA 19348
