Kennett parks authority to hold planning session, March 14

KENNETT SQUARE The Kennett Area Park Authority (KAPA) announces the commencement of a Master Plan project for the Anson B. Park that will provide the vision and strategic direction for Park features and facilities.

On March 14, at 6:00 p.m., at the Genesis HealthCare building (101 E. State Street, Kennett Square, PA – enter at side near parking garage walkway) the public is invited to join the Park Board and Simone Collins, the chosen Landscape Architecture firm, in a discussion about the features and projects that will help maintain the Park as a valued community resource and bring important improvements as well. Community insight and ideas are critical to shaping this project and ensuring the best outcomes for the Park and the community.

About Anson B. Nixon Park

Comprised of 106 acres, the Park has an entertainment pavilion, permanent restroom facilities, children’s playground, 5 pavilions with picnic tables, water and electricity, 2.5 miles of walking trails, 2 sand and grass volleyball courts, 2 tennis courts, 18 holes of disc golf and 2 ponds stocked for fishing.  Anson B. Nixon Park hosts many annual events including a summer concert series, an annual Easter Egg Hunt, the Trout Rodeo, nature programs, seasonal family activities and festivals, and is the location of the finish line for the Kennett Run.
