UHS swimmers beat Garnet

The UHS girls Swimming & Diving team improved their record to 2-0 with a win over Garnet Valley on Friday night winning 108-72. Katie Garvey, Erin Polries, and Mackenzie Hornibrook were quadruple winners for the Indians.

Erin Polries broke the pool record in the 400 meter freestyle and Mackenzie Hornibrook broke the pool record in the 50 meter freestyle.

District qualifiers include Katie Garvey in the 100 freestyle, Erin Polries in the 400 freestyle and 200 freestyle, and Mackenzie Hornibrook in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 butterfly. Freshman Molly Wentz and Quinn Benintende swam well for the Indians as well. The team returns to competition on Thursday against Pennsbury.

The UHS boys Swimming & Diving team improved their record to 1-1 with a win over Garnet Valley Friday night with a score of 102-81. Senior Matt Drohan led the team with 4 wins and qualified for Districts in 3 events: the 100 free, 400 free, and 200 free. Brandon Smiddy qualified for Districts in the 200 free and 400 free. Tommy Ferree, Ben Porter, and Ben Halkowski each won an individual event for the Indians. The boys return to competition this Thursday against Pennsbury.
