Read sworn in as Pocopson supervisor

New Pocopson township supervisor Matt Read accepts congratulations from State Rep. Steve Barrar during the township’s annual reorganization meeting.

POCOPSON — Change is coming to the township.

State Representative Steve Barrar came to the township reorganization meeting this week to support township officials and Matt Read, who begins his first term as Township Supervisor. Read won election last fall to replace the retiring Steve Conary.

Ricki Stumpo, who just finished her second year as a Supervisor, accepted the nomination and was voted in as Supervisors’ Chair; Georgia Brutscher will be Vice-Chair.

Susan Simone will continue as Township Secretary, Peggy Lennon as Treasurer, Stumpo as receptionist and Mark Knightly as Director of Public Works.

Richard Jensen will continue as Pocopson Township Code Enforcement Officer, Fire Marshall and pending approval by the Governor, 2014 Emergency Management Coordinator.

Township meetings will be held the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. The May meeting will be held on the 12th only due to the Memorial Day Holiday; August will be on the 18th only and December the 2nd and 3rd Monday of the month. The next Board of Supervisor’s Meeting will be January 27 at 7:30pm at the township office building – 740 Denton Hollow Road.
