PennDOT: Scheduled maintenance may delay drivers

Crews will be working on U.S. 1, Birmingham and Street Roads

IMG_0492Area roadwork has been scheduled this week, said an announcement from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), which wants motorists to be mindful of possible delays.

Crews will be working to remove vegetation on southbound U.S. 1 in Kennett Township between Parkersville Road and Rt. 52. The maintenance will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., resulting in intermittent lane closures from Monday, Dec. 9, through Friday, Dec. 13.

Brush-cutting will also be the focus of crews working on Birmingham Road in Birmingham and East Bradford Townships. Lane restrictions will occur between Rt. 52 and Brintons Bridge Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, through Friday, Dec. 13.

Line-painting crews are scheduled to work on state roads in Birmingham Township from Monday, Dec. 9, through Friday, Dec. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Motorists are asked to keep ample distance between their vehicle and the line-painting truck and avoid crossing the newly-painted lines.

Utility installation is expected to cause lane restrictions on Street Road (Rt. 926) between Beversrede Trail and Wickersham Lane in East Marlborough Townshp from Monday, Dec. 9, through Thursday, Dec. 12. The work will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
