State police probing bike theft in Newlin Township

$4,000 Ventana reportedly stolen from unlocked garage

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOn Nov. 18 between 8:20 and 8:50 p.m., someone stole a dark blue Ventana single-speed bicycle from an unlocked garage in the 600 block of Harveys Bridge Road in Newlin Township, said state police from the Embreeville barracks. Police said the bike, which was hanging from a hook on the wall, is valued at about $4,000. Anyone with information is asked to call the barracks at 610-486-6280.

State police from the Avondale barracks cited a 31-year-old Kennett Square resident for speeding after she was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Nov. 22 at 9:39 p.m. Police said Lucia Castro was traveling south on Kaolin Road in Kennett Township and lost control of her 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe as she attempted to turn right onto Marshall Bridge Road and struck a guardrail.

A Coatesville man was arrested for driving under the influence on Nov. 18 at 10:35 p.m. in East Marlborough Township, said state police from the Avondale barracks. Police said Paul H. Stearn Jr., 50, was stopped in the 800 block of East Baltimore Pike.

On Nov. 23 at 2:45 a.m., someone forced entry into the Tolsdorf Oil Express in the 900 block of East Baltimore Pike in East Marlborough Township, state police from the Avondale barracks said. Police said it did not appear that anything was taken, but they would like anyone with information to call the barracks at 610-268-2022.

Danielle A. Horgan, 29, of Wilmington, De., was arrested for driving under the influence on Nov. 16 at 11:28 p.m., said state police from the Avondale barracks. Horgan was traveling southbound on Rt. 52, north of U.S. 1, in Kennett Township, when she stopped, police said.
