Mushroom Festival now accepting grant applications

Some of the 33 organizations receiving grants in 2010 rode the Grant Recipient float in the 2010 Mushroom Festival Parade.

KENNETT SQUARE — Each year the Mushroom Festival awards thousands of dollars to local, community-based non-profit organizations based on the proceeds from the previous year’s Festival. After a successful 2010 Festival, our 25th festival, we’ll be able to help many local organizations with grants for 2011. The 2011 Mushroom Festival grant application is available online at www.mushroomfestival.org.

Any charity with a 501(c)(3) IRS classification can apply for a grant from the Mushroom Festival. The grant should be for a specific item or service. All proposals must be submitted on the Mushroom Festival Grant Application form and turned in no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Guidelines for grant submission are included with the application form.

The Mushroom Festival Board is excited that the profits of this event will stay in the community, helping southern Chester County area residents and organizations. “The Mushroom Festival Board of Directors wishes to thank the many sponsors and Festival attendees for their participation and support,” said Michael Pia, Jr., the Mushroom Festival’s Board of Directors president. “Without all of you, the opportunity to help the residents and organizations throughout southern Chester County would not be possible.”
