Icy roads: UCF Schools closed; board meeting still on

After initially opting for a two-hour delay, the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District decided to close for the day after a wintry mix of snow, sleet and rain fell on the area during the overnight period.

Chester County offices are running on a two-hour delay.

The Board of Education meeting, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chadds Ford Elementary School is still on, school officials say.

The storm, which began as snow Monday night, switched to sleet and rain in the overnight period, as temperatures began to warm, creating slick road surfaces despite only about one inch of snow. The rain, according to the National Weather Service, is expected to continue on and off throughout the day, with additional rain showers possible in the overnight period, Tuesday.—MM
