STATE COLLEGE, Pa. \u2014 Thomas Cramp \u2014 a graduate of Unionville High School \u2014 will serve as the student marshal for the College of Information Sciences and Technology\u2019s fall 2010 commencement ceremony to be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, in the Bryce Jordan Center on Penn State’s University Park campus.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is truly a remarkable feeling knowing that all of my hard work has paid off and is being recognized by my fellow students and the faculty,\u201d Cramp said.<\/p>\n
Cramp is from West Chester, Pa., and is the son of Tom and Patricia Cramp. He will graduate with degrees in information sciences and technology, with a focus in information technology integration and application, and security and risk analysis, with a focus in cyber security.
\nWhile at Penn State he was a member of the Men\u2019s Penn State Club Lacrosse team and IST\u2019s Honor Society, Gamma Tau Phi. He received awards such as the Evan Pugh Scholar Award sponsored by Lockheed Martin and a scholarship for academic excellence sponsored by the Boeing Company.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile I am officially graduating from Penn State with degrees in IST and SRA, I feel like the learning has just begun,\u201d Cramp said. \u201cI know for sure I want to enjoy a successful career in the IT field that gives me exposure to a wide range of challenging problems.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cramp has accepted an offer with Lockheed Martin as a systems engineer in the Information Systems and Global Solutions: Defense division and will participate in the company\u2019s Information System Leadership Development Program, beginning in February.<\/p>\n
He said he plans to use knowledge he\u2019s acquired from Penn State to succeed in the program. He said he learned from college to take advantage of all available resources because it\u2019s nearly impossible to be an expert at everything, and that\u2019s where outside means of information come in handy.<\/p>\n
As for now, Cramp said he\u2019s honored to be named IST student marshal because it\u2019s a \u201cvery prestigious accomplishment and I will remember it for a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n
