You can still travel by air and look good doing so<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>We are rapidly approaching Spring Break week and many will be jetting off to exotic locations! (Exception = Hockenberry family, who, thanks to a $3,000 car repair bill, will be firmly planted in good ol\u2019 Unionville)<\/p>\n

I must say that I have old fashion values when it comes to flying. \u00a0I long for the days when people dressed up to board an airplane.\u00a0 It was (and still is, for pete\u2019s sake) a luxurious privilege.\u00a0 Nowadays, you see frumpy, unkempt ragamuffins in pajama bottoms and slippers.<\/p>\n

WHY??<\/p>\n

Please, please, PLEASE do NOT give me the dreaded \u201cCOMFORT\u201d excuse.\u00a0 I refuse to listen to it.\u00a0 There are many ways to achieve \u201ccomfortable\u201d without appearing homeless.<\/p>\n

When I fly, I prefer to wear a maxi dress in a jersey knit fabric.\u00a0 BEFORE YOU LOSE YOUR MIND (because I know that there are a good many of you who just snorted in disgust at the suggestion of a DRESS to travel in\u2026.hold your fire for a minute), let me explain.\u00a0 A maxi is long, so, it covers the legs and the choice of fabric makes it FEEL like sweatpants without actually BEING sweatpants.\u00a0 Get it?<\/p>\n

I throw a cardigan on and wrap a large light- weight scarf around my neck. \u00a0The scarf will replace that itchy, napkin size, who-knows-who-had-it-before-you, blue airplane blanket.\u00a0 See?\u00a0 Functional AND chic!\u00a0 It\u2019s a win-win!<\/p>\n

Always wear some type of slip on thong or sandal for ease of removal through security.\u00a0 Although, I suggest putting a pair of socks in your purse so that you aren\u2019t barefoot on that disgustingly dirty floor. \u00a0Ewwwww! \u00a0And, don\u2019t forget your mandatory pedicure prior to going away\u2026.VERY important.\u00a0 Bare toenails are unacceptable, ladies.<\/p>\n

I love when I read in magazines that celebrities take a facial tonic spritzer to spray on them mid-flight.\u00a0 As high maintenance as I am, I have never tried this.\u00a0 However, I won\u2019t lie, it sounds delightful.\u00a0 And, I\u2019m sure the extra- large man hogging your arm rest wouldn\u2019t mind the droplets of rose water on his forearm\u2026<\/p>\n

I absolutely do not forget some sort of hair tie.\u00a0 I rarely have time to do my hair before a flight because we tend to be the type to book flights that leave at some ungodly hour.\u00a0 Wearing a messy top-knot is in vogue right now anyway!<\/p>\n

I must have lip gloss.\u00a0 It serves a dual purpose.\u00a0 First and foremost, it makes me feel better and distracts others from the dark circles under my eyes and secondly, it is hydrating in the dry, stale cabin air. \u00a0(How\u2019s THAT for rationalization?)<\/p>\n
