Dozens of volunteers work to get donated bikes cleaned and repaired during the annual Bike FixIt day at Patton Middle School, Saturday.<\/p><\/div>\n

EAST MARLBOROUGH \u2014 For the 16th straight year, members of the Unionville community gathered to wash, repair and rework donated bikes to the needy \u2014 and Saturday morning volunteers were greeted with a perfect fall morning, working outside and inside Patton Middle School.<\/p>\n

The volunteers worked in two basic areas: outside, washing and inspecting the donated bikes and inside where the repairs were done.<\/p>\n

Earlier, starting in Mid-September,\u00a0 the Patton Middle School PTO ran its annual collection drive \u2014 although 2010 figures were final yet, more than 150 bikes were collected in 2009.<\/p>\n

Working with BikeLine in Exton, volunteers used donated parts to get the bikes back into shape and ready for their next owners. Kennett Area Community Services will help match the refurbished bikes to new, needy owners.<\/p>\n
