Click or tap to follow the link.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jameyshouseofmusic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.jameyshouseofmusic.com<\/a>) would definitely get a BBB seal of approval for March 29.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The show on Saturday night would also get a different BBB nod of approval \u2013 a \u201cthumbs up\u201d regarding \u201cBoston Blues Bands.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Bees Deluxe, an Anglo-American blues band based in Boston, will be the headliner for the March 29 show. One Dime Band, another longtime blues act from Beantown, will be the opening act.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Bees Deluxe is an anything-but-basic blues band. They are hell-bent on a mission to drag the electric-analog blues of Chicago in the 60\u2019s, the Blue Note catalog and the funk of New Orleans into the 21st century.<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The core line-up of Bees Deluxe features Conrad Warre, guitar, vocals; Carol Band, keys, vocals; Allyn Dorr, bass, vocals; and Paul Giovine, drums.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The band has impressed audiences from Maine to the Mississippi with its arresting and highly danceable originals and its innovative interpretation of less-travelled tunes by artists like Etta James, Joe Zawinul, J.B. Lenoir, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, Albert Collins and the three Kings.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">According to Blues Blast Magazine, \u201c(The band is)&#8230;what might happen if Freddie King took a lot of acid then wrote a song with Pat Metheny and asked a strung-out Stevie Ray Vaughan to take a solo.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The band was formed by British guitar ace\u00a0Conrad\u00a0Warre.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cI grew up in London,\u201d said\u00a0Warre, during a phone interview from his home in Boston. \u201cI went to a Quaker boarding school that had a lot of U.S. students. One of them gave me a blues compilation album with songs by Johnny Winter, Little Walter and B.B. King.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cIn high school, I was in a band with Paul Kossoff. Paul later went on to be a guitarist with the band Free.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cI got a degree in graphic design. When I got out of college, I realized I didn\u2019t want to do graphic design.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Music was a prime alternative.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cI\u2019m from London \u2013 from Notting Hill Gate, where the riots were,\u201d said\u00a0Warre. \u201cI wrote Two-Tone music and toured with The English Beat and Joe Jackson. I moved to New York and played a lot at CBGB\u2019s.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cI found Carol playing jazz at Ryles Jazz Club in Boston. I got Paul in the band because he knew who Bernard Purdie was. Jim was a friend of his and they played country blues together.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Bees Deluxe has played with Ronnie Earl, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Matt Schofield, Roomful of Blues, Walter Trout and David Maxwell. The four-piece band celebrates the music of B.B. King, Robert Cray, Albert King, Tinsley Ellis, Freddie King and others.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">So, the band\u2019s background includes blues, rock, English ska, punk rock, jazz and country rock. Its current sound is all of that \u2013 and none of that.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cOur sound is more modern \u2013 more progressive \u2013 more edge,\u201d said Band.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Warre, who is a British football fan and supporter of the Arsenal Gunners, said, \u201cThe communality is acid rock and blues. So many bands play the same songs the same way every night.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWhen we play, we stretch it out and change it always. Arrangements are made up on the fly.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Bees Deluxe push the limits of the blues, color outside the lines of convention, and do it with impeccable musicality, originality, and a touch of insanity.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cThis kind of music appeals to fans of all ages \u2013 if they get to hear it,\u201d said\u00a0Warre. \u201cWe\u2019re at our best when people are dancing.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cOr if they\u2019re hooting and hollering. We adjust our music to the audience. If it\u2019s not a dance crowd, we can stretch it out.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u00a0\u201cWe don\u2019t play a standard blues band repertoire. A lot of blues bands play the same few songs such as \u2018Born Under a Bad Sign,\u2019\u2018Spoonful,\u2019 and \u2018The Thrill Is Gone.\u2019 It\u2019s really repetitive.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cI pick songs that other blues bands don\u2019t \u2013 for example songs by J. B. Lenoir. We like to discover songs that are off the beaten path.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Bees Deluxe\u2019s discography also includes the following albums \u2013 \u201cSaving Civilization\u201d (2009),\u2019Space Age Bachelor Pad Blues\u201d (2012), \u201cTrouble in Paradise\u201d (2014),<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">In 2018, Bees Deluxe released their\u00a0all-original acid-blues album,\u00a0\u201cVoice of Dog,\u201d\u00a0which was produced by Joe Egan on Slapping Cat Records.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The band\u2019s CD,\u00a0\u201cMouthful of Bees,\u201d\u00a0which features an original sound that they call \u201cacid blues,\u201d\u00a0was produced by Egan and\u00a0Warre. It includes three originals and seven classic blues songs re-interpreted by the band.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">In November 2023, Bees Deluxe released the \u201cHallucinate\u201d album. \u201cHoudini,\u201d a track from the album was released as a single on the same day.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The musicians featured on this album are Warre on guitar, bass, vocals, trumpet, and keys; Band on keyboards, vocals and harmonica; Poogie Bell on drums; Allyn Dorr on bass and vocals; Jared Egan on guitar; Joe Egan on keyboards and mentoring; James Gildea on bass and vocals; Paul Giovine on drums and percussion; and Adam Sankowski on bass guitar.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cHallucinate\u201d was produced and mixed by Joe Egan at Tight Squeeze and mastered by Joe Idza at All Things Audio with Warre serving as executive producer.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Warre wrote 11 of the album\u2019s 12 songs including \u201cAnother Close Shave,\u201d \u201cHoudini,\u201d \u201cWhat\u2019s Wrong With Me?,\u201d \u201cMen &amp; Women,\u201d \u201cScared,\u201d and \u201cGary Burton\u2019s ex-Guitar Player Stole My Highschool Girlfriend And Now I Can\u2019t Stop Dreaming About Her.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Band wrote the other song \u2013 \u201cHow to Play 96 Tears.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cOur repertoire has about 60 covers \u2013 most of which are deep cuts \u2014 and 40 originals,\u201d said Warre. \u201cYou\u2019re in danger if you play too many originals.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The audiences at Jamey\u2019s have already demonstrated that they will love whatever Bees Deluxe plays.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWe\u2019ve played Jamey\u2019s before. They introduced us to Jamey\u2019s House of Music and now this is our second time to play there.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">One Dime Band is a dynamic and talented acoustic duo which has crafted its distinct sound and songwriting approach by blending influential styles of blues, R&amp;B and soul.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Gallucci and Brauchler have played\u00a0in and around the Boston\/New England area as a duo and as a four-piece electric band for many years.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Their love of American Roots music started in New York State where they first met in High School, teaching each other Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly songs when they were 15. The next year they formed their first band and began to incorporate blues numbers into their repertoire.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWe\u2019ve been making music together for more than 35 years,\u201d said Brauchler, who joined in on a conference call. \u201cWe started our first band when we were in school at Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, New York.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">While many of their friends at the suburban high school in Westchester County were playing sports for the Hornets teams, Gallucci and Brauchler were playing music for whomever would listen.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cOur band back then was called Resque,\u201d said Gallucci. \u201cIt was 80s rock and roll and evolved into roots rock and roll. I was learning guitar and John was teaching me Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly riffs.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cI went to college for a year and that didn\u2019t work out. I was playing keyboards for bands in upstate New York.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cThen, I moved to Boston and never left. That was around 1986. We had a band called Paul Crash Palace. It was a rock and roll band.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Blues entered the picture around that time.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cThe first live blues concert I saw was Paul Butterfield and Rick Danko opening for John Lee Hooker,\u201d said Brauchler.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Gallucci said, \u201cThe first time we heard live blues shows was in Boston. On my first time was with John and we went to see John Lee Hooker opening for Johnny Winter. We formed our own blues band around 1989 &#8212; The Roadhouse Sheiks.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The two eventually went on to pursue separate musical endeavors, ultimately reuniting as a duo in early 2000. Their focus was on acoustic blues.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cJohn and I took a couple years to form One Dime Band,\u201d said Gallucci. \u201cOne Dime came into existence in 2000. Once we started the blues thing, I knew the tradition of blues bands playing covers.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWe were an acoustic blues duo in 2000. It was in 2016 when we really started writing and then recording at my home studio. So, this thing we have now has been around for nine years.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Brauchler said, \u201cIn 2017, we released our debut album, \u2018Gonna Take Sweet Time,\u2019 on our own label, Toneblanket Records.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cIn February 2020, we released \u2018Hoodoo &amp; Holy Water.\u2019 That was the first time we did the recording in a real studio.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cHoodoo &amp; Holy Water\u201d was recorded at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, Massachusetts. The album was engineered and co-produced by Rob Ignazio.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Released in mid-winter in 2020, the LP received notable recognition, including\u00a0Blues Music Fan Radio\u2019s\u00a0Top 20 albums of the year and\u00a0Blues Music and Metronome Magazine\u2019s\u00a0Top 20 lists of 2020.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The two veterans were winners of the 2022 Boston Blues Society Blues Challenge solo\/duo category and the 2023 Granite State Blues Society Challenge. They also made it to the semifinals at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January 2024.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">On February 9, 2024, they released their third album, \u201cSide Hustle.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWe play a lot of clubs with our blues,\u201d said Brauchler. \u201cWe also play a lot of gigs at venues like Legion halls with 50s and 60s rock and Beatles songs.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cAt Jamey\u2019s, we\u2019ll focus on the blues. We\u2019ll play one or two covers but most of the set list will be originals. Pay-per-view tickets are $15.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Jamey\u2019s will also host AC Steel and the Perpetrators on March 27, Dustin Douglas and The Electric Gentlemen on March 28 and The Philly<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Blues Kings with special guest Dave Orban of the Mojo Gypsies on March 30.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">BASK is coming to town this weekend.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">But there is no exhibition soccer match on this weekend\u2019s schedule, so it won\u2019t be BASK, a\u00a0football (soccer) club from\u00a0Savski Venac,\u00a0Belgrade,\u00a0Serbia. It is one of the oldest clubs in Serbia.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The BASK heading to Philly will be BASK, a band from Asheville, North Carolina. It is one of the oldest bands of its type in the North Carolina mountains.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Two years ago, BASK travelled extensively on a 10th-anniversary tour. The North Carolina rockers have spent the last decade exhibiting their progressive blend of heavy psychedelia and soulful Americana across North America and Europe.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">On March 28, BASK &#8212; Jesse Van Note, bass; Scott Middleton, drums; Ray Worth, guitar;\u00a0Zeb\u00a0Camp, guitar\/vocals \u2013 will return to Philadelphia for a show at Nikki Lopez Philly (304 South Street, Philadelphia, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livenation.com\/venue\/rZ7HnEZ17QZPN\/nikki-lopez-philly-events\">www.livenation.com\/venue\/rZ7HnEZ17QZPN\/nikki-lopez-philly-events<\/a>).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWe all came to Asheville about 12 years ago,\u201d said Camp, during a phone interview Monday as the band travelled from Asheville to Atlanta to start the tour.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cJesse is from Chapel Hill and I\u2019m from northwest North Carolina. Ray is from Virginia and Scott is from somewhere in upstate New York.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u00a0\u201cI was studying literature at the University of North Carolina-Asheville. I met these guys through musical friends. Our first show was in 2013 at the Odditorium in Asheville.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, BASK\u00a0was fully conceived in the fall of 2013 when the four musicians came together to produce sounds that were properly reflective of the lush yet rugged Appalachian habitat.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Bask\u2019s debut album was \u201cAmerican Hollow,\u201d which was released initially in 2014 on Wonderboy Records and as a CD in 2015 on This Charming Man Records. The quartet\u2019s sophomore album, \u201cRamble Beyond,\u201d was released in March 2017 on Self Aware Records\/ This Charming Man Records.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The band\u2019s newest record, \u2018III,\u2019 showcases a soulful juxtaposition of Americana rock \u2018n\u2019 roll with progressive and psychedelic elements, separating BASK\u00a0from your average rock band from the South.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">It should be emphasized that BASK is a band from the South but not a \u201cSouthern Rock\u201d band.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Back in 2019, BASK\u2019s Facebook page has the following message \u2013<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cLetter to the listener:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Progressive; heavy; psychedelic; Americana, have all been used to describe\u00a0BASK. The truth, we are four musicians based in Asheville, North Carolina who love making music. We want rhythm heard for miles, melodies remembered for weeks, and an honesty and sincerity felt to your bones. Most of all we want you to listen without concern for what you are hearing. To listen only for the sake of hearing.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Esse Quam Videri,<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">BASK.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The \u201cEsse Quam Videri\u201d is a line\u00a0BASK\u00a0lifted from the state motto of North Carolina. It is a Latin phrase meaning \u201cto be rather than to seem.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWe all have pretty diverse tastes,\u201d said Camp. \u201cTwo of us have North Carolina folk and traditional. Growing up, punk and hardcore were popular and we all found our ways to heavier stuff. Now, we\u2019re back to traditional.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cThe description depends. We\u2019re often the lightest band on a metal bill and the heaviest band on an indie rock bill.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">BASK has added another element to its musical diversity.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWe\u2019ve added a pedal steel to our live ensemble,\u201d said Camp. \u201cIt adds a progressive element. There are also a lot of other influences ranging from country to Pink Floyd.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWhen we\u2019re not on tour, we\u2019ve been working on new material. We\u2019ve road-tested a lot of new songs and hope to have an album out later this year.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cWe might put out a single or two but we\u2019re really into the album art form. It is set in the\u00a0Blue Ridge Mountains\u00a0of\u00a0North Carolina\u00a0in 1945\u201346 with flashbacks to 1923.
