\"\"More than 1,000 pets will be looking for homes as part of Brandywine Valley SPCA\u2019s (BVSPCA) Summer Mega\u00ae Adoption Event powered by Petco Love and BOBS\u00ae<\/sup><\/em> from Skechers\u00ae<\/sup><\/em>. The June event will be held at the Bob Carpenter Center at the University of Delaware in Newark on June 15 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens from BVSPCA and participating partner organizations will be available for just $35 in adoption fees throughout the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Megas are an amazing experience, to see so many pets who have lost everything be chosen by families eager to give them a new life full of love,\u201d said Adam Lamb, BVSPCA CEO. \u201cAs the largest adoption event in the country, our goal with the size and format of our Megas is to save even more lives by reaching folks who might not otherwise consider coming to a shelter to adopt.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Petco Love celebrates \u201c25 Years of Love\u201d improving the lives of people and pets across the country, we\u2019re excited to spread even more love through these Mega Adoption events. The lives of so many pets and people are about to change and all for the better,\u201d said Petco Love President, Susanne Kogut. \u201cShelter workers and volunteers work tirelessly to save these pets \u2013 and the feeling they get when the pets find loving homes fuels their passion to continue their lifesaving mission.\u201d<\/p>\n

All pets available at the 2-day event will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and have current vaccinations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough our Megas, we also strive to help other shelters tap into the adoption community in this region, particularly shelters in areas of the country where there are more pets who need homes than adopters,\u201d Lamb said.<\/p>\n

Participating organizations include ACCT Philly (PA), Animal Adoption Center (AAC) (NJ), Animal Care Shelter for Kent County (MD), Animal Rescue League of Berks County (PA), Crossing Paths Animal Rescue (AL), Currituck County Animal Services (NC), Faithful Friends Animal Society (DE), Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center (NJ), Humane Society of Harrisburg Area (PA), and Montgomery County Animal Shelter (TX).<\/p>\n

A limited number of early access Fast Passes will be available for purchase. Fast Passes give potential adopters access at 8:30 a.m., more than an hour ahead of general admission. Adopters should bring a leash and collar for a dog adoption (also available for purchase), a carrier for a cat (cardboard carriers generously donated by Petco Love will be available), a valid ID, and the adoption fee.<\/p>\n

This will be the BVSPCA\u2019s 16th Mega\u00ae Adoption Event. The first Mega\u00ae took place in December 2016, and to date, BVSPCA-led Mega\u00ae Adoption Events powered by Petco Love and BOBS\u00ae<\/sup><\/em> from Skechers\u00ae<\/sup><\/em> over the last eight years have found homes for nearly 16,000 pets.<\/p>\n

The Mega\u00ae Adoption Event is also a great way to help pets even if you aren\u2019t ready to add a new pet to your family. Community volunteers are needed from set up to tear down, and through the duration of the event in a number of roles. Families, friends, individuals, community, and corporate groups are encouraged to register as Mega\u00ae volunteers.<\/p>\n
