PENNSBURY \u2014 Although the old saying \u201cno matter where you go, there you are\u201d may still apply, residents who walk or run in the township\u2019s park now may also know exactly how far they\u2019ve gone before the end of the year, thanks to a new Eagle Scout project.<\/p>\n

Justin Miller of Troop 31, asked for approval of the township Board of Supervisors Wednesday night of his plan to install concrete markers in the ground, along the walking path, so people will know how far they\u2019ve gone. In addition, Miller project, which is a requirement to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, will replace one park bench and add two more.<\/p>\n

Miller had originally hoped to install 6×6-inch posts \u2014 but township officials worried they would make mowing the park more complicated. Instead, Miller will dig out spots and install the markers flush to the ground, using concrete. Miller said he\u2019d need to complete the project before December to qualify as an Eagle Scout \u2014 and the board of supervisors offered their support for the plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a very good project for us,\u201d Supervisor Aaron McIntyre said. \u201cThis will let people in the park know how far they\u2019ve walked or jogged.\u201d<\/p>\n

Supervisor Scotty Scottoline agreed and noted how lucky Pennsbury has been over the years to benefit from so many Eagle Scout projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe sure have had a lot of Eagle Scouts,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd they\u2019ve all done a lot of great projects.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Boys Scouts of America require scouts seeking to advance to the rank of Eagle \u2014 the highest in the organization \u2014 to complete a number of specific requirements including, planning and leading a community service project before their 18th birthday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
