{"id":53269,"date":"2023-11-20T08:47:44","date_gmt":"2023-11-20T13:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=53269"},"modified":"2023-11-20T08:47:45","modified_gmt":"2023-11-20T13:47:45","slug":"downingtown-christmas-tree-lighting-scheduled-for-nov-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=53269","title":{"rendered":"Downingtown Christmas tree lighting scheduled for Nov. 25"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_18932\" style=\"width: 252px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18932\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-18932\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Santa-at-Tree-II.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-18932\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Downingtown will hold its tree lighting ceremony Nov. 25<\/p><\/div>\n<p>DOWNINGTOWN \u2013 Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas, Inc. is hosting the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony this Saturday, November 25, at 6pm.\u00a0 The event takes place in Kerr Park at the Log House field below the Christmas Tree.<\/p>\n<p>There will be holiday music provided at the concert gazebo, a face painter, small craft and games for the kids, letter writing to Santa, along with cookies and hot chocolate.\u00a0 Of course, the evening would not be complete without Santa arriving by firetruck at 6:45pm to light the Christmas Tree with help from our friends at Aardvark Animal Hospital, our Double Diamond Christmas Tree Sponsor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDowningtown Good Neighbor Christmas, Inc. is proud to display our 20-foot artificial lighted Giant Everest Christmas Tree with a three-foot lighted star on top.\u00a0 The tree, which is professionally decorated sits next to the Log House on Lancaster Avenue and at the entrance to Kerr Park, providing our community a beautiful sight for the holidays\u201d, said Dianne Plaugher, co-Chair of Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext up after the tree lighting is our Christmas Parade to be held on Saturday, December 9th at 3 p.m.\u00a0 We have outstanding bands, floats, walking and marching groups, and much more.\u00a0 And of course, the arrival of Santa to end the parade, said Plaugher.<\/p>\n<p>If that\u2019s not enough, Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas is sponsoring a \u201cBusiness Storefront Decorating Contest\u201d, with cash prizes for 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> place.\u00a0 Registration is not required, just decorate.\u00a0 The contest is limited to Borough businesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFundraising is an important part of our Christmas celebration which would not be possible without support from our community.\u00a0 We are grateful and proud of our businesses and individuals who helped us raise a near record $25,000 so far this year!\u201d, said Plaugher.<\/p>\n<p>Donations are still being accepted.\u00a0 Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and donations are tax deductible.\u00a0 Donations may be made online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dtownchristmas.com\">www.dtownchristmas.com<\/a> and click on the sponsor tab or by check in any amount made payable to \u201cDowningtown Good Neighbor Christmas, Inc.\u201d and mail to 11 Court Drive, Downingtown, PA\u00a0 19335.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DOWNINGTOWN \u2013 Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas, Inc. is hosting the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony this Saturday, November 25, at 6pm.\u00a0 The event takes place in Kerr Park at the Log House field below the Christmas Tree.
