Camp Bumblebee will be offered at three Chester County locations in the Summer of 2024.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">At a time when social isolation is a growing problem, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) has announced the expansion of Adaptive Programs.\u00a0Adaptive Programs feature an adapted curriculum that is\u00a0designed for children and adults with developmental delays and disabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Starting in January 2024, the Y will expand access to existing Adaptive Programs, offering them at additional\u00a0branches in Chester County. Expanded programs include Adaptive Swim Lessons, Adaptive Gymnastics, Adaptive Dance, Open Doors\u00a0and Respite Recreation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Open Doors is a social meet up for adults in the Adaptive community and Respite Recreation\u00a0provides\u00a0parents and caregivers an evening off while trained YMCA staff care for children of all ages, including adults.\u00a0Both programs provide\u00a0an important opportunity for connection among the Adaptive community.<\/span> <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cWhile many understand that living with a disability presents a variety of challenges, few understand how isolating it can be,\u201d says Erin Lacotta, Director of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Behavior Support &amp; Adaptive Programs<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u00a0\u201cSocial isolation is a growing problem for individuals with disabilities\u00a0\u2013\u00a0and for their caregivers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cWe want to fix that,\u201d she continues. \u201cHere at the YMCA, everyone\u00a0is welcome\u00a0because everyone deserves\u00a0the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Adaptative Programs at the YMCA provide\u00a0a supportive environment where\u00a0people\u00a0of all ages can\u00a0build new experiences through\u00a0programs tailored to meet their\u00a0needs.\u00a0Registration for Adaptive Programs that take place in January \u2013 May 2024 begins on November 21, 2023\u00a0for existing YGBW members. Registration for guests begins on December 5, 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">In addition to expanding access to existing Adaptive Programs in January, the Y will further expand<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">its catalog of Adaptive Programming in March 2024 by adding LEGO Club, SNAPshots\u00a0Sports, Bowling League\u00a0and Small Group Training. The Y will also increase the number of locations that host\u00a0Bumblebee Day Camp this summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">BumbleBee\u00a0Day Camp\u00a0is an Adaptive Summer Camp that\u00a0features\u00a0a higher ratio of staff as compared to\u00a0traditional day camps, allowing camp counselors to provide\u00a0focused attention and support to campers.\u00a0Registration for Summer Camp begins on January 16, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The YMCA offers a\u00a0Financial Assistance Program to ensure that no one is turned away based upon an inability to pay. Families who are interested in Adaptive Programs and Bumblebee Day Camp are encouraged to apply for Financial Aid,\u00a0if needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cWe never want money to be the reason that a family misses out on YMCA programs and services,\u201d explains Bertram L.
