{"id":52091,"date":"2023-04-05T08:57:26","date_gmt":"2023-04-05T12:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=52091"},"modified":"2023-04-05T08:57:29","modified_gmt":"2023-04-05T12:57:29","slug":"coatesville-to-launch-first-fridays-starting-in-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=52091","title":{"rendered":"Coatesville to launch First Fridays, starting in May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-17818\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Coatesville-First-Friday-Flyer-v-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" \/>This week, the Coatesville 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Century Alliance announced a new event: First Fridays in Downtown Coatesville.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning in May this year and running through August, the monthly special event will be a celebration of Downtown Coatesville\u2019s shops, restaurants, and rich cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<p>From 5:00 to 8:00pm on the First Friday of each month, downtown businesses will host special events, offer refreshments and promotions, and sponsor live entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>First Fridays began in the late 1980\u2019s and spread across the country as downtown commercial districts worked to revitalize.\u00a0 They are a localized celebration of a community\u2019s culture and are designed to draw patrons into the downtown retail district.\u00a0 The monthly event has met with success in many downtowns across Pennsylvania.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so excited to be able to coordinate these monthly events as a way to showcase not only the new businesses that are opening in downtown, but introduce our neighbors to the businesses that have been here for years.\u201d says Amber Little-Turner, Downtown Manager for the Coatesville 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Century Alliance.\u00a0 \u201cDowntown Coatesville is experiencing a renaissance and these monthly events will help us share the great changes with the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Three new restaurants have opened in the last few months and two more are slated to open this year.\u00a0 Record Kitchen + Bar is located at 206 East Lincoln Highway, Iron Eagle is at 143 East Lincoln Highway, and Richie\u2019s Water Ice is at 332 East Lincoln Highway. \u201cIt\u2019s important that we promote our new businesses opening downtown, but it\u2019s equally important to celebrate the ones that have been here for years, such as Deysi\u2019s Pizza, JamRock Jamaican, and Tortuguida Mexican,\u201d says Little-Turner.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the restaurants, downtown Coatesville\u2019s small business incubator and Midway Arts are host to more than 40 small retail and service businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Downtown Coatesville is indeed experiencing an economic resurgence and First Fridays are a natural way to showcase what\u2019s new in the City\u2019s commercial corridor.<\/p>\n<p>The 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Century Alliance was founded in 2015 when the City celebrated 100 years of incorporation, to ensure Coatesville\u2019s \u201csecond century\u201d is economically prosperous.
