{"id":5075,"date":"2011-10-04T13:56:32","date_gmt":"2011-10-04T17:56:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=5075"},"modified":"2011-10-04T13:56:32","modified_gmt":"2011-10-04T17:56:32","slug":"letters-weigh-board-options-carefully","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=5075","title":{"rendered":"Letters: Weigh board options carefully"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>To The Editor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Letters1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-5076\" style=\"margin: 4px;\" title=\"Letters1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Letters1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Letters1.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Letters1-142x100.jpg 142w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>As a current Unionville Chadds Ford school board director I&#8217;m asking the public to carefully weigh their choices in the upcoming UCF school board election.\u00a0 The candidates who will continue the positive behavior of the past two years are Rob MacPherson (East &amp; West Marlborough) and the trio of Timotha Trigg, Frank Murphy and Sharon Jones (Chadds Ford, Pennsbury).<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, their opponents have shown a disregard for the public voice and an ease in spending your tax dollars as evidenced by their support of the expansive high school addition with under-the-cap financing.\u00a0 If past behavior is any indication of future behavior, these free spending candidates would return to the we-know-best ways of the past.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>There has been a remarkable, positive change in school board behavior over the last 2 years.\u00a0 I&#8217;d like to keep it that way.\u00a0 No longer do we have a board that ignores the public voice as was previously evident with the high school project.\u00a0 Board deliberations are conducted in open session with pertinent documents easily accessible on the District&#8217;s web site.\u00a0 Public comment is welcomed and encouraged.\u00a0 An excellent replacement for our retiring superintendent was selected with public involvement.<\/p>\n<p>No longer do we have a sky&#8217;s-the-limit spending attitude.
