Last week, we kind got the ball run right down our throats and we thought we might get the same thing tonight, but we responded this week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And how. By the time Vanguards even managed to move the ball into Unionville territory, they were down 21-0 in the second quarter. The defense gang tackled and constant pressure forced Hudson to make mistakes \u2014 including four interceptions, two by Rich Kaiser, who also scored on a 79-yard kickoff return to start the second half.<\/p>\n<p>As usual, quarterback Connor Gades and tail back Mason Popham had strong games, combining for 150 yards on the ground and touchdown runs between them, but the game may well have been the team\u2019s best effort as a group this season.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_478\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-478\" href=\"http:\/\/unionvilletimes.com\/?attachment_id=478\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-478\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-478 \" style=\"border: 2px solid navy; margin: 4px;\" title=\"UHSSun101510-2\" src=\"http:\/\/unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/UHSSun101510-2-300x270.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-478\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Unionville defense sends Sun Valley quarterback Bill Hudson airborne, Friday night.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI was pleased with our effort,\u201d Clark said. \u201cI was pleased with how efficient we were. We didn\u2019t make many mental mistakes. When we don\u2019t play well, a lot of it is mental for us, it\u2019s not really physical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have Great Valley next week, that\u2019s a little different style, they want to spread you out and throw the ball,\u201d Clark said. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be a big deal for them, it\u2019s their homecoming and they\u2019re trying to find an identity, so it\u2019s another challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another challenge could be complacency. With three straight games scheduled against struggling programs Great Valley, Octorara and Kennett and then a regular season ending showdown against powerhouse Downingtown East between the Indians and another postseason berth, Clark said he thinks it\u2019s crucial his team maintains week to week focus on the teams they\u2019re playing each week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think our kids are realizing every week, people think they can pick up a win against us and for some teams, that makes their seasons,\u201d Clark said. \u201cI guess that\u2019s a compliment to us, because our kids are worked so hard to build a tradition, but it also means our kids have to be responsible to hold up that end of the bargain.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indians&#8217; most complete effort of season; get four interceptions By Mike McGann, Editor, UnionvilleTimes.com ASTON \u2014 It took only a minute and 45 seconds to tell that Unionville had, shall we say, a more motivated week in practice.
