After an extensive two-year revitalization, the Main Fountain Garden returned in May with a season of celebration featuring fountain performances, concerts, and special events. The newly revitalized Main Fountain Garden has attracted nearly 500,000 guests to Longwood and received rave reviews since returning on May 27.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe enthusiastic response our Main Fountain Garden has received has exceeded our expectations\u201d said Paul B. Redman, President and CEO. \u00a0\u201cOur guests asked for more fountain performances and we are pleased that we can make that happen and continue to run our fountains through October,\u201d Redman said. The fountain season was originally slated to end September 30.<\/p>\n<p>The culmination of the legacy and vision of Pierre S. du Pont, the garden combines classic landscape design with stunning architecture, innovative technology, and extraordinary fountains, including 1,719 swirling jets that can reach as high as 175 feet and 30 jets that combine water and flame.<\/p>\n<p>The fountains will perform 12-minute shows daily at 11 am, 1, 3, and 5 pm through October 31. During the day, guests can experience the beauty of fall\u2019s changing hues throughout Longwood\u2019s 1,083 acres, and see Longwood\u2019s Chrysanthemum Festival featuring one of fall\u2019s iconic favorites grown into extraordinary forms throughout the Conservatory.\u00a0Young guests will delight in the Garden Railway, Pumpkin Playground, and Longwood\u2019s whimsical treehouses, which invite exploration.<\/p>\n<p>During extended evening hours on October 6, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28, guests can enjoy the chrysanthemum-filled Conservatory with Asian-inspired lanterns aglow, drop by the Beer Garden for tasty pub fare, live music, and Victory Brewing Company brews crafted using ingredients grown at Longwood. The fountains perform at 6:30 pm followed by the spectacular 30-minute Illuminated Fountain Performance set to music at 7:30 pm. \u00a0The Gardens are open from 9 am -9 pm on these special evenings. Admission is via timed tickets, which go on sale September 11.
