{"id":33611,"date":"2017-01-31T09:57:31","date_gmt":"2017-01-31T14:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=33611"},"modified":"2017-01-31T09:57:33","modified_gmt":"2017-01-31T14:57:33","slug":"ksq-cc-crowns-platform-tennis-champs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=33611","title":{"rendered":"KSQ CC crowns platform tennis champs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_3098\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/PaddleTennis.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3098\" class=\"wp-image-3098 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/PaddleTennis-350x263.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"263\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3098\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Luke and Kim Alikanavitch (left) and\u00a0Todd and Paula \u00a0Piercy battled for the Kennett Square Platform Tennis Mixed Doubles title.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">EAST MARLBOROUGH \u2014 On January 21st,\u00a0Kennett Square Golf and Country Club held the mixed doubles Club Championships for Platform Tennis. \u00a0Also referred to as paddle most of the time, the game is an addictive outside sport that allows you to hit a ball and take it off the screens and try to win a point with patience and skill.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For the second year in a row the team of Mother\/Son Kim Alikanavitch and Luke A. won the club championships at <a href=\"http:\/\/ksgcc.com\/\"><span class=\"s2\">KSGCC.com<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0Luke Alikanavitch is a former baseball and basketball player from Kennett High School, and a pitcher who played \u00a0for four years at University of Delaware. \u00a0Also a \u00a0former Blue Hen is his mother whom he played with and won with last Saturday at <a href=\"http:\/\/ksgcc.com\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Ksgcc.com<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0The Alikanvitch team won over local \u00a0Kennett residents Todd and Paula \u00a0Piercy. \u00a0Todd and Paula are tennis players and paddle players who have a love for the game. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It was a fun filled day with lots of great matches. \u00a0The weather was cooperative with no sun, which can cause issues, and cool temperatures. \u00a0Paddle is played in all weather including rain and snow. \u00a0Kennett has propane heaters to dry off the courts when wet or icy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">John and Simone Twombly, a husband wife team were defeated by local real estate agents and partners, Tom O&#8217;Neill and Lynn Hinckley. \u00a0 In 5th and 6th place were Hannah and Eric Christopher who won over local jockey Walter Puddifier and his partner Suzy Hughes.
