U.S. Rep Pat Meehan (R-7) with his district’s Scholar-Athletes, including 23 students from Chester County.<\/p><\/div>\n

U.S. Rep. Patrick Meehan (R-7) recognized 23 Chester County students with the Congressional Scholar-Athlete Award on May 5, 2016. The award is given to students who exemplify the selfless dedication to school and sports that define the leaders of tomorrow. The students received the award at a reception held at Penncrest High School in Media, Delaware County.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some two hundred students and family members were on hand as nearly a hundred high school juniors received the award. More than 40 high schools from throughout the 7<\/span>th<\/sup><\/span> Congressional District selected one male and one female senior for recognition.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an honor to recognize students that have demonstrated excellence both in the classroom and on the playing field,\u201d said Meehan. \u201cThese students have shown what can be achieved through diligent work, drive and determination. Their success reflects favorably on their own ability and the commitment of their parents and educators. Each of these students should be proud of his or her accomplishments. I wish them all the best of luck in their future endeavors.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cheryl Colleluori, founder of the HEADStrong Foundation, was the keynote speaker at the reception and spoke of the importance of leadership both on the field and within the community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAre you part of the team or are you the team?\u201d said Colleluori. \u201cLeave your mark. Be relentless on and off the field, and you will find great success. I hope you leave here tonight and take part of my Nick with you.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
