{"id":29191,"date":"2016-05-03T09:39:52","date_gmt":"2016-05-03T13:39:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=29191"},"modified":"2016-05-03T09:40:48","modified_gmt":"2016-05-03T13:40:48","slug":"obituaries-erma-sharpless-gray","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=29191","title":{"rendered":"Obituaries: Erma Sharpless Gray"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_274\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-274\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-274\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Erma-Gray-265x300.jpg\" alt=\"Erma Sharpless Gray\" width=\"265\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-274\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Erma Sharpless Gray<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Erma Sharpless Gray passed away peacefully at the age of 103 on Monday, April 25<sup>th<\/sup>, 2016.\u00a0 She spent most of her years in West Chester and Kennett Square but resided in Brinton Manor, Glen Mills PA for her last years.\u00a0 She was the wife of the late Samuel Gray with whom she shared 10 years of marriage.<\/p>\n<p>Erma was born in Westtown Twp, PA and was the daughter of the late Wesley and Clara (Ginsley) Sharpless.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Erma spent her life helping others, as evidenced by taking care of 4 generations of the Smedley Family.\u00a0 She worked at Elwyn, the Barclay Home as the administrator, the Hickman Home in the kitchen and the Friends Home, as manager of the dietary department.\u00a0 After her retirement she spent many hours volunteering at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital and the Pocopson Home.\u00a0 She loved watching sports, pet sitting for others and being with family.<\/p>\n<p>Erma is survived by her step son, William Gray of MD, 2 grandchildren, Ellen Liversidge of CA and Richard Bleecker of NY and life long friends Willard Smedley (Julia) of Kennett Square, PA and William Smedley (Janet) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Aunt Erma, known as Rosie by her cherished \u201csons\u201d and their families, was a truly amazing lady.\u00a0 She was deeply loved and will be extremely missed by all who were blessed to have known her.<\/p>\n<p>Services and internment will be held privately.\u00a0 Contributions in her memory may be made to the Friends Home, 147 W. State St, Kennett Square, PA\u00a0 19348.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Arrangements are being handled by the Kuzo &amp; Grieco Funeral Home Inc. of Kennett Square.
