{"id":28511,"date":"2016-03-22T08:37:02","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T12:37:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=28511"},"modified":"2016-03-22T08:37:02","modified_gmt":"2016-03-22T12:37:02","slug":"letter-disappointed-in-riveras-behavior","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=28511","title":{"rendered":"Letter: Disappointed in Rivera&#8217;s behavior"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><strong>To The Editor,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Letters1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1142565\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Letters1.jpg\" alt=\"Letters1\" \/><\/a>I am writing to express my sadness and disappointment in the behavior reported in a recent article regarding\u00a0Mr. Rivera who withdrew from the ballot for State Representative because of problems with his petitions, including misrepresentation before a notary.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Mr. Rivera stated that he really did not understand the process and he made this misrepresentation unknowingly.\u00a0 From what I know of the process and the forms, the whole thing appears to me to be straightforward, but if you are not a person who pays attention to detail when filling out forms that have to be notarized, it might not be, and as a result, Mr. Rivera is paying the price by having to withdraw from the ballot.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">What I find distasteful is that Mrs. Rzucidlo (who is on the Democratic ballot on the 158 District) was accused of &#8220;playing politics.&#8221;\u00a0 Mr. Rivera did the wrong thing.\u00a0 There is no need to disparage\u00a0Mrs. Rzucidlo for standing up and doing the right thing when she found these issues.\u00a0 She\u00a0has every right to review and dispute ballots that are questionable.\u00a0<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">The current petition process might be considered a hassle but it is there to ensure\u00a0the\u00a0integrity of the documents.\u00a0\u00a0 It is perfectly acceptable to require that a potential representative\u00a0who is running to represent her district understand and to\u00a0follow the process.\u00a0\u00a0 So, it is distasteful to me that Susan&#8217;s actions were called political, in one report, the fault was placed with Susan.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">This blame throwing is an attempt to take attention away from the actual error of\u00a0Mr Rivera&#8217;s is insulting to the electorate and\u00a0just shows that the\u00a0political circus and dysfunction that is happening in Washington and in Harrisburg is also in our very own backyard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I am a life long\u00a0Republican and I can\u00a0tell you that I am sick of what is happening in Washington and Harrisburg.\u00a0\u00a0 Our\u00a0representatives are not representing\u00a0me.\u00a0 I am a centrist worried about how all of the playground shenanigans are impacting the future of our country and the future of my kids and future grand kids.\u00a0 And I am\u00a0worried about the future &#8211; that the roads are safe for my kids and my fellow citizens, that we have decent jobs so people can live and contribute to the economy, that our education system is producing citizens that can contribute to the global economy, that are communities are safe for all people.\u00a0 Because, that all of these things are good for American business and prosperity.\u00a0 And I expect my representatives to follow the law and if he\/she\u00a0does not, to pay the consequences just like we expect every other citizen to do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I know Mrs. Rzucidlo and I do not like seeing her character called into question.\u00a0\u00a0 She cares about this country, this county and her district.\u00a0 She has worked across party lines to get the Premise Alert System adopted across the state of PA. \u00a0Nationally, police are being educated on how to recognize and deal with kids on the autism spectrum which is saving lives and much of that work was started here in Pennsylvania and Susan Rzucidlo was in on the ground floor.\u00a0 Emergency departments in this state and across the country are able to download communication boards free of charge to enable people who cannot communicate to\u00a0enable them to communicate their medical issue and need.\u00a0 Susan did that.\u00a0 Susan is\u00a0tough.\u00a0 She is principled. She gets results.\u00a0 \u00a0And if she was still running in my district, I would vote for her whole heartedly because I will not vote along party lines.\u00a0 I\u00a0vote for people who I think will work together across party lines to get\u00a0results.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: right;\"><span class=\"s1\">M.J.
