Indians baseball thumps Coatesville 14-4 in 5 innings<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

EAST MARLBOROUGH \u2014 The summer-like weather on Monday afternoon on the Indians varsity field was conducive to some serious batting by the UHS baseball team, as Unionville easily handled Coatesville, 14-4 in a Ches-Mont American Division game.<\/p>\n

In the third inning the Indians went through 12 batters with a two-out rally to boot to start the inning off.\u00a0\u00a0 Conor Donze, a senior, and \u00a0Drew Diehl, a junior, each had a homer and ended the inning with six hits total and seven runs. David Kurey, a senior, ended the game with a walkoff homerun, invoking the mercy rule, for his second shot of the game. \u00a0Kurey, batting very appropriately in the cleanup position, had smoked another homer in his first at bat in the second inning.<\/p>\n

Senior righty Tyler Fries pitched three innings and gots the win over Coatesville. \u00a0Chris Fulton, a senior lefty, closed the game out with the last two innings and a strong finish.\u00a0\u00a0 Fries had five strikeouts in 3 innings.\u00a0 Fulton had a 1-2-3 fourth inning with help with a bit of strong defense from his infield; Kurey, Diehl and Kyle Fries (sophomore).<\/p>\n

The Indians are now 4-3 overall and travel to West Chester Rustin on Wednesday and then return home with Octorara on Thursday for a make up game that has been rained out twice. \u00a0Weather on Thursday is calling for sunshine and high of 65 degrees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
