Do you have the perfect dress?\u00a0Appropriate shoes (my suggestion is a wedge as opposed to a heel&#8230;you won\u2019t sink into the\u00a0ground)? More importantly, do you have a hat? There are so few occasions these days to wear\u00a0one, I say go big or go home! I understand not wanting to spend a fortune on something you will\u00a0likely throw in the back of your closet&#8230;so, I decided to brainstorm some ideas to make a plain,\u00a0old straw hat (available at a variety of locations for under 10 bucks) look fabulous:<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf A lightweight scarf folded in half and tied around the middle of the hat is an easy\u00a0solution. It instantly adds color and interest and you will certainly wear the scarf again. I\u00a0would like to suggest a Lilly Pulitzer version from Target, but, alas, they were all sold out\u00a0in a matter of minutes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Steeplechase-2015.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1098706\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Steeplechase-2015.jpg\" alt=\"Steeplechase-2015\" \/><\/a>\u25cf Hot glue a wide ribbon (pick a bright color out of the pattern of your outfit or go with a\u00a0complimentary color. It doesn\u2019t have to be matchymatchy\u00a0to look pretty) Add a large,\u00a0fabric flower or a cluster of rhinestone brooches for some extra pizazz.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf I love the idea of using feathers! Simply stick the quills into the hat and secure with a pin\u00a0underneath to keep them in place. Michael\u2019s Craft Store has bags of fancy options.<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Tassels are everywhere in fashion this year. Buy a yard of trim from the sewing section\u00a0and hot glue around the brim of the hat. Voila! Chicness personified.\u00a0Your hat should be a reflection of your personality!
