Marlborough swears in Clarke, dedicates new facility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><em><strong>Veteran officer formally takes reins at township department<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><strong>By Karen Cresta<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\"><i>Correspondent, The Times<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_109543\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/NewEMPDHQ-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-109543\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1095430\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/NewEMPDHQ-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"NewEMPDHQ\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-109543\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">East Marlrborough officials dedicated a new police trailer Saturday and swore in new Chief of Police Robert Clarke.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>EAST MARLBOROUGH \u2013 In true spirit of entering the police facilities, lots of donuts and coffee welcomed guests as they arrived to witness Robert Clarke, the second chief in East Marlborough Township history to be sworn-in Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDonuts are calling my name,\u201d joked Clarke \u2014 known around the township and surrounding area by his affectionate nickname &#8220;Clarkie,&#8221; as he laughed and welcomed his guests.<\/p>\n<p>Clarke, who served in law enforcement for 32 years and the township since 2003, is replacing Gerald Davis, who retired as chief at the end of February.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Many spectators including Clarke\u2019s family and friends, township supervisors and employees, and Republican Party-endorsed candidates, Christine Kimmel for township Supervisor, and Allison Bell Royer for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, attended the ceremony at the new police facilities located behind the township building.<\/p>\n<p>Walker mentioned that Clarke was instrumental in advocating and getting the new facilities.
