\"GoodStuff\"<\/a>For our furry friends<\/strong><\/em>…Chester County SPCA’s\u00a0Henry\u2019s Cupboard<\/strong> was recently launched.\u00a0Named in honor and memory of Senator Andy Dinniman\u2019s<\/strong> beloved<\/strong> poodle, Henry<\/strong>, the goal of this program is to provide free food assistance to pet owners living below the poverty level. Owning the \u2018block\u2019<\/em><\/strong>…Avon Grove High\u2019s Olivia Paoletti<\/strong> is a triple qualifier for the PIAA – AAA State Swimming & Diving Championships….recently winning gold in both the 400 breast stroke and IMs at Districts making her AGHS\u2019 FIRST female swimming district champion…and the\u00a0TRIFECTA:\u00a0Unionville High’s\u00a0Girls\u00a0Swim Team<\/strong> won the Ches-Mont League American Division for the third<\/em> year in a row, finishing their season 8-1.\u00a0The team was led by Laura Barthold, Lauren Stabler, Lindsey Hewton<\/strong> and Maura Grimes<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

Random acts of kindness<\/em><\/strong>…Kennett Middle School<\/strong> students and teachers were \u2018paying it forward\u2019 in February with month-long activities included raising money to provide Kennett Food Cupboard<\/strong> with FRESH, baked pizzas; a\u00a0luxury many needy families cannot afford, surprising students by covering lockers with personalized inspirational sticky note messages, and composing thought\u00a0provoking personal notes on self worth and value …and word is March’s KMS theme will focus on the rewards of \u2018perseverance\u2019…<\/p>\n

Alley-OOP! …<\/em><\/strong>Congrats to Octorara High’s boys basketball<\/strong>\u00a0team<\/strong> on their BIG win over Glen Mills for 80-54 win for District 1-AAA title…The Braves move on to the state tournament versus District 12’s Archbishop Caroll<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

‘Secret’ Service<\/strong><\/em>…Kennett youth coach, Jill Hunt<\/strong>,\u00a0and members of KHS girls and boys lacrosse teams<\/strong> were spotted donating indoor lacrosse gear and giving lax pointers to the Garage Youth & Community Center and its fans. \u00a0Gear was ‘gifted’\u00a0by friends in honor of\u00a0anonymous Kennett-area volunteer’s & Garage advocate’s milestone birthday…<\/p>\n

Rockin’ some ‘heavy metal’…<\/em>Great Valley\u2019s<\/strong> 4\u00d7800 girls relay team of Elise Claffey, Anna Willig, Tabitha Wismer<\/strong> and Crosby Spiess<\/strong>\u00a0bring home G-O-L-D with a time of 9:22.52 at Sunday\u2019s PTFCA State Indoor Track and Field Championships at Penn State University. For the guys, Downingtown West\u2019s<\/strong> 4\u00d7200 relay team of Ian Alleyne, Nate Alleyne, Matt McCool<\/strong> and Josh McLemore<\/strong> earned the silver medal with a time of 1:29.34…<\/p>\n

Leading the Way…<\/em><\/strong>Kudos to Patton Middle School<\/strong> teachers Ms. Ballard, Ms. Hisler and Mr. Walsh<\/strong> as they presented at the Pennsylvania Association for Middle Level Education Conference in State College on February 23. Ms. Ballard and Ms. Hisler presented on our outstanding Patton Gardens Project while Mr. Walsh presented a session entitled “Modeling Digital Citizenship for Students\u201d…<\/p>\n

Service Above Self<\/strong><\/em>…Longwood Rotary<\/strong> gets a big nod…raising$1,000 to help a Kennett Squre family who lost everything in a devastating house fire New Year’s Eve, raising $500 for Wings For Success<\/strong> and also providing helping hands to move Wings inventory from Frazer to their new KSQ location…<\/p>\n

Dodging the ball<\/b>…<\/em>Oxford Area High’s\u00a0<\/strong>Future Business Leaders of America sponsored its 5th annual Dodgeball Tournament benefiting the Eli Seth Matthews Leukemia Foundation.<\/strong> The winning squad was the Moondogs<\/strong>: Joey Boggs <\/strong>(captain),\u00a0Cole Moran, Ryan Hubley, Zach Deasey, Josh Mosely, Nick Salvadore, Nolan Benke<\/strong> and Tyler Farr.<\/strong> This year’s tournament had the highest number of participating teams and raised the largest amount of money for the Eli Foundation..special thanks Walgreen’s \u2013 Oxford,<\/strong> for its generous donation of bottled water for all the participants…<\/p>\n

Face-Off<\/strong><\/em>…Avon Grove Ice Hockey Club prevailed 6-1 over Kennett Friday night, and advances to the DSHA Varsity Division Championship\u00a0against the Delaware Military Academy. The Championship was\u00a0cancelled\u00a0Sunday night due to weather conditions and has yet to be rescheduled…<\/p>\n
