{"id":24077,"date":"2014-12-05T11:28:23","date_gmt":"2014-12-05T16:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=24077"},"modified":"2014-12-05T11:31:32","modified_gmt":"2014-12-05T16:31:32","slug":"speed-limits-and-road-top-topic-in-chadds-ford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=24077","title":{"rendered":"Speed limits and roads top topic in Chadds Ford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><em><strong>Pothole turns into bigger issue; speed limits, u-turn issues discussed<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>By Kris Firey-Poling<\/strong>, <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\"><em>Correspondent, The Times<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_992637\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/IMG_0909-300x300.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-992637\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-992637\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/IMG_0909-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0909\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-992637\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chadds Ford Supervisors George Thorpe (left) and Frank Murphy discuss road issues during Wednesday night&#8217;s Board of Supervisors meeting.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>CHADDS FORD \u2014 Road maintenance, speed limit, and signage dominated Wednesday night\u2019s township Board of Supervisors meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we thought was a pothole on Heyburn Road near Baltimore Pike is actually a deformed culvert that is losing stability of the road,\u201d said Township Engineer Joseph Mastronardo.<\/p>\n<p>The cost to replace the culvert is estimated to be $100,000.\u00a0 According to Mastronardo, it needs to be completed in 2015, but an asphalt fix will keep it safe until then.\u00a0<!--more--><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Vice-Chairman Supervisor George Thorpe added that, &#8220;This culvert expense is not included in the 2015 Budget, but still needs to get done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In her manager\u2019s report, Amanda Serock reminded residents that, \u201cWhen it snows, leave your car in the driveway and keep trashcans off the street.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thorpe added that, \u201cDuring the last snowfall, I saw people pushing snow from their driveway out onto the road.\u00a0 This is a problem.
