{"id":23669,"date":"2014-10-25T13:02:23","date_gmt":"2014-10-25T17:02:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=23669"},"modified":"2014-10-25T13:02:23","modified_gmt":"2014-10-25T17:02:23","slug":"letter-ross-should-not-be-on-158th-ballot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=23669","title":{"rendered":"Letter: Ross should not be on 158th ballot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>To The Editor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Letters1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-967705\" style=\"margin: 4px;\" alt=\"Letters1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Letters1.jpg\" width=\"140\" height=\"98\" \/><\/a>I am writing out of concern for developments in the campaign for the 158th Legislative District of\u00a0the State Legislature and in support of Susan Rzucidlo. While I find the circumstances regarding\u00a0the Cuyler Walker matter sad and disturbing, the underlying facts leading to his withdrawal from\u00a0the election are not here up for discussion.<\/p>\n<p>However, it is exceedingly disturbing that the\u00a0Republicans have twisted those events so that, well after the statutory deadline, Candidate Ross\u00a0will be listed on the ballot. The process does not pass the \u201csmell test\u201d. It is clearly the efforts of\u00a0the Republican establishment to manipulate the system by filling the void left by Cuyler Walker\u00a0at the last moment through political intrigue. This is not the opportunity of the electorate to\u00a0choose, but rather the manipulation of the process.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Equally as disturbing is why Chris Ross is in\u00a0this race. He gave notice long ago that he was retiring from this office. Now he\u2019s back. Where is\u00a0his heart in this matter? Is he just a place-holder for those manipulating Republicans, with his\u00a0heart and foot already out of the door, or did he really change his mind? If he changed his mind,\u00a0what induced him to do so? What does that suggest about his commitment to the citizens of the\u00a0158th District? I suggest that the \u201csmell test\u201d clearly shows that politics as usual is alive and well\u00a0in the 158th Legislative District.<\/p>\n<p>Vote for clean government and fresh air; vote for Susan\u00a0Rzucidlo.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>Scudder G.
