\"Boosterthon-Logo\"<\/a>EAST MARLBOROUGH \u2014 Students at Unionville Elementary embraced a new way to build their bodies and characters \u2014 as well as help fund new equipment for their school as part of the Boosterthon Fun Run, held earlier this month at the school. Similar events are being run at other district elementary schools as well.<\/p>\n

384 students participated in the program, and learned about fitness, leadership and character during daily exercises to prepared for the Fun Run. Funds were raised on the basis of pledges made by family and friends of the students. Unionville students were able to raise some $17,500 whih will help fund new sound equipment for the school’s gym.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoosterthon exists to strengthen schools,\u201d said Chris Carneal, Boosterthon\u2019s founder and president. \u201cWe do this by increasing funds and inspiring students through engaging character themes like Rock\u2019n Town Live. As a parent, I\u2019ve seen how important community is in my children\u2019s lives. That\u2019s why we\u2019re challenging students to build community in their schools and neighborhoods.\u201d<\/p>\n

Instead of selling a product, students simply gather pledges from friends and family for the number of laps they will run at the Boosterthon Fun Run. To adapt to schools\u2019 changing needs, Boosterthon introduced new service options with their Preferred Choice program. Schools can customize their fundraising experience for the best fit. Also, Boosterthon recently introduced a sliding-scale fundraising model, which means the more a school raises, the more it keeps.<\/p>\n

The Rock\u2019n Town Live character theme includes music videos that teach students five character lessons about building community: Plug In To Serve, Amplify Others, Listen For Feedback, Play Hard, and Thank Your Crowd. Boosterthon also extends character development throughout the year by giving each classroom a free media pack, which includes a Rock\u2019n Town Live DVD, CD and student workbook that fulfills five national education standards.<\/p>\n

As the most inclusive fundraising option for schools, every student is invited to the Boosterthon Fun Run, whether they participate financially or not. Also, when parents register on funrun.com, their student receives a free gift. And to make pledging easy for sponsors, Boosterthon offers a new mobile-optimized pledging site.<\/p>\n

Boosterthon\u2019s 2013-14 giveback program, KidFit Salute, provides financial support for military kids hoping to play a fun sport.
