Despite some wet weather, spirits were high as Newlin celebrated its volunteer fire companies: Po-Mar-Lin, West Bradford and Modena at a special event, Saturday at the Lenfest Center.<\/p><\/div>\n

NEWLIN \u2014 Saturday night, the Newlin Fire & EMS Committee\u00a0held their second annual\u00a0Party celebrating\u00a0Newlin’s three Volunteer Fire Companies, Po-Mar-Lin. West Bradford and Modena.<\/p>\n

The afternoon rain didn’t dampen\u00a0any spirits as Megan Bittle DJ’d throughout the evening while the delicious food was catered by the area’s famous\u00a0Hood\u2019s BBQ. Victory Brewing generously\u00a0contributed ice cold\u00a0beer, and very enjoyable selections of excellent wines were donated by local wineries, Stargazer’s, Galers. and Paradocx.\u00a0 The inside\/outside setting of the Natural Lands Trust\u2019s Lenfest Center was a perfect contribution to the event.<\/p>\n

Raffle Items that had been donated by generous local artists and businesses were in hot competition.\u00a0A\u00a0beautiful oil on canvas entitled “Heirloom” was much sought after.\u00a0 It was painted and donated by Karen D’Alliard,\u00a0a well know local artist.\u00a0\u00a0Also a giclee entitled “Lightning Strike” by Richard Chalfont brought much attention.\u00a0 Of particular interest was\u00a0a pen and ink by Martin May of the iconic \u00a0Embreeville Mill.<\/p>\n

May was commissioned to design the new logo for the Newlin Fire & EMS symbol, adding “the river runs through it” and horses to\u00a0his Embreeville Mill sketch to depict the flavor of Newlin Township. \u00a0The print, a limited addition, signed and numbered 1\/50, was beautifully matted and framed, compliments of\u00a0Lorraine’s Frame Cellar in Willowdale.<\/p>\n

Other Raffle items donated were several beautiful hard cover books from Schiffer Publishing of Atglen, donated by Loryn and Pete Schiffer;\u00a0 a scenic ride in a Classic Cessna airplane by Bill Kelsall; a group of local foxhunting\u00a0 history books donated by both Reddy Hannum and the Cheshire Hunt; and a tailgate package with wine from Dr and Mrs Tim Manzone.<\/p>\n

Two beautiful quilts, donated by Andra Rudershausen of Roundabout Quilting, garnered numerous “oohs and aahs” from the crowd.\u00a0 Door Prizes were baskets of mouthwatering homemade chocolates, donated by Susan Drake of Sarah’s Country Chocolates.<\/p>\n

Everyone personally thanked the Volunteer Fire Fighters who were present, but true to form, Modena was called\u00a0to duty\u00a0before the end of the party.\u00a0 Proceeds will be\u00a0distributed to\u00a0Newlin’s three\u00a0Fire Companies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
